My most sincere condolences to the government and people of Jamaica as well as to the Johnson family for the loss of a statesman such as Ambassador Johnson. "Tony" as he was known, championed the best values of Caribbean democracy and represented his country with dignity whenever his prestige was needed, be it in the United States or the OAS. Writing this message not only as Viceministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, but as a proud Caribbean, I can say that the diplomatic community will greatly miss him but can be proud of the legacy that he leaves behind, carried on most outstandingly by Foreign Minister Kamina Johnson-Smith.
