As the Department of State's Acting Assistant Secretary of Western Hemisphere Affairs, I wish to express the deepest sympathy of the United States Government to the Government of Jamaica and the people of Jamaica on the passing of former Ambassador Anthony Johnson. As Ambassador to the United States and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States, Ambassador Johnsonโ€™s unquestioned statesmanship and humanitarianism earned him the respect of so many in Jamaica and around the world. I want to convey our heartfelt condolences to his wife and their four children, among them the current Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kamina Johnson Smith.
